Infection Control

Infections are major causes of illness, disability, death, and health care costs. Infections may be spread by a variety of routes, and appropriate infection control is imperative to protect patients, health care providers, and the public. Health care-associated infections such as MRSA may be multi-drug resistant, prompting careful and consistent reduction in avoidable spread to patients. Other community-acquired infections, such as Ebola, can be highly virulent, and high-level infection control is required to protect staff and prevent outbreaks.
